JOB SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for estimating and managing large-loss repair projects from initial assessment through final completion. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Xactimate, has a strong understanding of insurance protocols, and is capable of managing all aspects of the reconstruction process including budget, schedule, subcontractors, and client relationships. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of restoration processes, and the ability to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water damage mitigation, repair estimates, and project management, with the ability to effectively interface with clients, production teams, and management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prepare detailed estimates for water and fire damage restoration, asbestos abatement, and reconstruction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct site assessments to evaluate damage and determine necessary remediation processes.
• Oversee all phases of restoration projects, from initial assessment through completion, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and quality standards are met.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns promptly.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to foster repeat business and referrals.
• Work closely with management to develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
• Interface with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, particularly regarding asbestos abatement and water damage restoration.
• Promote a culture of safety within the team and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
EXPERIENCE
● Proven experience as an estimator and/or project director in water damage restoration and asbestos abatement.
● 5+ years of experience in reconstruction project management and estimating (large-loss experience preferred).
● Proficient in Xactimate (Level II or higher preferred) with a strong understanding of insurance estimating practices.
● Proven ability to manage multiple projects and effectively lead subcontractors and vendors.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
● Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and project financials.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management platforms, and cloud-based documentation.
● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients, internal teams, vendors and external regulatory organizations.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to respond quickly to client questions and concerns.
• Negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in estimation software (Xactimate) and project management tools.
• Computer literacy with use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Exceptional customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, operations management, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., IICRC, OSHA 30, EPA Asbestos Certification) are a plus.
